Hi, my name is Pedro, or if you prefer Scansetti. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I am passionate about the ocean and the outdoors. In the desire to create stories and immortalize all those moments, I gave up my academic career and threw myself headlong into the audiovisual universe. This kick-off began in 2014. Since then, I have been developing original content for different segments of visual communication, with a unique approach taken from the conscious creative imagination of my inner child, mixing it with all the adult experience through countless everyday experiences and, of course, Surf.

When and how did you start surfing?
I started because of my father, he has surfed since he was a teenager. But he always lived a little bit far from the beach. So when I was 9 years old, we moved to Praia da Macumba, and after this fell in love with surf and turned this into the principal goal of my life, not like a professional surfer but like a person who still making all the choices in my life to be able to spend more time in the water catching good waves.
Who are the surfers that inspire you?
I think during these more than 20 years of surfing I've been inspired by many people, first my father, then friends, then people you discover in films and even in a surf session. Of course, I have the ones that I liked more to see, but I think in terms of inspiration I think it depends on what and how I'm living at that moment. Like Raul Seixas used to sing, "I prefer to be that ambulant metamorphosis than having that old opinion about everything."
Where are your favorite surf spots that you've been to?
Saladita in Mexico was a very special place for me. But at the moment I'm really in love with the place that I'm living. Here in Peniche and around, I can find all types of waves and epic conditions.
Where are the surf spots you want to visit in the future that you've never been to?
At the moment, I'm focusing on Portugal, I'm mapping a lot of places that have a lot of potential where I've never seen people surfing. But soon I'm planning to go to Morocco and Angola, and if I go I'll have new films for you! hahaha
Which type of surfboards and fin setups are you into?
Most of the time, I'm using a Log. I'm working with Nico from Wavegliders. He is one of the most impressive shapers I've ever seen. Thanks to him, now I have plenty of boards in my quiver, from a Spoon replica to a 10' pin tail to go fast on the big days. What I like most is to experiment with everything possible. I like the feeling of translating what the board wants to say.
Which one video would you highlight in this playlist and why?
REPENTE, for sure. This was a very special project for me. Caio is one of my best friends and we created a lot of things together in this last decade. But REPENTE was very special for us, because we made everything, even the soundtrack, was recorded in his living room with very good friends in a jam session, total improvisation, some of them had never seen each other in their lives, and we were able to create amazing tracks.
What cameras and lenses do you use?
Blackmagic 4k with Sigma 70-24mm, 30mm, and Canon 100-400mm. This is my setup at the moment, pretty new. I haven't made a surf film with this yet, but soon.
What editing tool do you use?
Adobe tools
What's your favorite focal length?
Depends on the project and what I'm looking to achieve. But I really like the SIGMA 30mm 1.4 art series to film details and portraits. It's very sharp and clear. But the SIGMA 24-70mm 2.8 is the one that I use more because it's easier to work because of the range, and I use a 0.64x Metabones that gives more stops so I can film in really low light situations.
When and how did you start filming?
When I was a teenager. We used to go surf and film our session. I still have the first edit that I made in 2005 (I think). But at that time, it was just for fun. I started to think of this as a profession in early 2011 when I bought my first camera.
Who are the creators that inspire you?
So many! Hahaha like I said before, it depends on what and how I'm living at that moment.
What are the surf films/videos that inspire you?
SPROUT and The Endless Summer are the masterpieces for me. I'm still inspired by these films every time I watch them.
Other than surf films?
Wes Anderson movies are a big inspiration. Not just the photography but the way that he tells the story. At this moment, he is a big inspiration. However, independent short films and fiction that are available on the internet are often sources of inspiration.,
Who are your favorite bands and musicians?
I have some, and 95% are Brazilians. But I think Milton Nascimento, Jorge Ben Jor, Belchior, Caetano Veloso are the ones who I listen to more. Every time that I press random play on Spotify, they are always there.
